Mark, just saw one of your posts on the forum. Think you are the first 2012er from the South West that I've come across apart from myself- I'm from just outside Plymouth. How's the training going? I'm currently stuck on an oil rig with only 1 treadmill and no other cardio so am struggling a bit! Hope it's going well and you're keeping injury free. Let me know if you want to meet up to swap ideas or for training sometime.
    Have a great Christmas,
    All the best,
    Tom
  5. Andy, thanks I will try lifting my toes, as you suggest. And let you know.

    Mark,

Sorry for the delay but i have not been on the site much recently.

It sounds very much like your foot fall could be the problem. Drop back on the exercise a bit and work to ensure you hear no slapping noise when you plant your foot. 9 times out of 10 when you get a prolonged case of MTSS its due to foot fall. Make sure you lift your toes when your planting your foot.

Give that a go and concentrate on it otherwise your foot will naturally revert back to your normal plant action..

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,

Mark it does sound a bit like compartment syndrome but its very hard to diagnose. I have just replied on the thread. That is what i would do. the change in milage was way to drastic. You should up your milage by 10% max per week... Also it could be your foot fall thats the problem. as long as you have no races preplanned then I would rest and recover. when you walk ensure the trainers arent too tight and you dont hear a slap when your foot contacts the ground... This is the bigggest factor i find that causes this problem.... Let me know
