At RunUltra we’re always happy to hear how popular our web article selections are and how much you enjoy videos about running with funny water bottles and muddy trainers. This week, we’ve decide to introduce (to some of you) a whole new experience you might not be aware of: the world of TED.

Since its inception in 1984, Technology, Entertainment and Design has expanded its global platform of inspirational video talks to include most topics. TEDx is an offshoot to help independent organisers arrange TED events in local communities. Here’s our Top Seven selection of running and adventure talks.

The Human RACE: can running teach us to coexist?
Watch RunUltra’s own editor Alice Morrison (UK) discuss running and adventure and how they  can help save mankind… Ambitious! You can watch her TEDx talk here.

Positive outcomes from negative experiences
Canadian Adam Campbell is an extreme mountain runner and athlete who tells a TEDx audience in Canmore about a running accident that almost changed his life.

Are we born to run?
In this TED talk, US runner and journalist Christopher McDougall explores humans’ desire to run from humankind’s first survival to more modern urges.

To the South Pole and back
Explorer Ben Saunders (UK) narrates his grueling 4-month expedition to the South Pole to emulate Scott’s 1912 ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition in this TED talk.

Why some people find exercise harder than others

In this New York TEDx talk, US Social psychologist Emily Balcetis discusses perception in matters of health and fitness, specifically exercise and weight loss.

Are athletes really getting faster, better, stronger?
Sports and Science reporter David Epstein’s TED talk explores whether the human race is getting faster or whether technology and improved training, among others, are the reason pushing us further.

My trek to the South Pole
Canadian endurance runner Ray Zahab narrates his 33-day sprint through the snow. On foot, unsupported and blogging daily.
