TRAIL AND ULTRA RUNNING FESTIVAL UK

Long distance running experts and elite athletes including Nicky Spinks and Damian Hall are part of the line up for the first ever ultra and trail running festival to be hosted by Giggleswick Outdoor Pursuits, a commercial activity provider based at Giggleswick School, in North Yorkshire.

The event, over the weekend of April 13-14 2019, will focus on off road and ultra running, especially over distances in excess of the 26.2 mile marathon distance. Speakers include sports injury and nutrition experts as well as elite runners, all experienced in going long over varied terrain.

Organiser and head of outdoor pursuits at the school, Chris Wright said: “It will be an educational and ‘hands on’ weekend of guest speakers, practical workshops, equipment and race advice. Whether you are a seasoned runner or an enthusiast eager to find out more, this weekend will help take your running to a new level and make new connections in the ultra and trail running communities.”

The two-day residential festival, hosted on the 240 acre Giggleswick School campus based at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, will include guided runs and a number of practical workshops including training for hill climbing/descending; using poles; navigation on the move; how to train for hills in the flatlands; fuelling and hydration; equipment selection; pacing and race strategy and injury prevention.
