A desert race, but in southern Africa, far from the geo-political problems affecting the north Africa countries: a totally safe race.

Running in the desert doesn't necessarily means sleeping on the ground, eating dry food, carrying heavy packs; there's another way to experience the desert with its fascinating features: the 100 km of Namib Desert. It's the only 5 stars extreme race in the world, first for the environment in the heart of the  Namib Desert, the most beautiful and ancient desert in the world and second for the accommodations in a fantastic 5 stars lodge.

A very demanding race, but with luxurious five stars accommodations that allow you to recover and prepare to face the 4 stages, each one different from the other one. 14, 21, 42 and 26 kilometers.

You will run many kilometres through the oldest desert in the world, you will face a marathon the 3rd day, and the grand finale with the climb of the Crazy Dune, the highest dune in the world.

A great atmosphere, natural beauty, fascination, but also relaxation and comforts: these are the race program ingredients, that will make a vacation of sport, nature and... Adventure..

My favourite multi day.

This was my second time running zitoway’s amazing race in the incredibly beautiful Namibian desert.....it is by far my favourite stage race! The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful, from dry river beds and spectacular sunsets to the never ending thigh-killer dunes. There are times in the race where you have total isolation, surrounded only by this incredible desert and your thoughts...it is a very emotional and special feeling in a world where life is usually too noisy/busy/crowded! In this race you are sure to make lasting memories and lasting friendships.

I have seen a couple of desert races so far but 100km Namib Desert is the most pleasurable so far. This race can be described as a real five star running holidays. Very manageable daily distance, excellent accommodation and local food served is complemented by an excellent service provided by the organizers. It is a unique boutique type of race where I was surrounded by the stunning nature of the oldest desert in the world and I was accompanied by incredible people. I would be very happy recommending this race to anyone.

I have done many of the Namibia 100km with Zitoway. It is be far the best race I have ever entered. The Place is so lovely, the Lodge in Sossusviei is amazing, the food is 1st class. Most of all, the Zitoway staff look after all your needs and you know you will be safe. To run/walk alongside some of the wildlife is just amazing. Everyday is an adventure. To climb up to the top of the highest sand dune in the world , is very special "The Big Daddy" Dune 45. It is also the oldest Desert in the world. The night sky will blow you away. As the sun goes down, so the colours of the desert change. A place you will never forget. You don't just get a race with Zitoway, there is history, nature, a Bush BBQ and so much more. The other runners/ walkers are all so friendly, why would you not WANT to keep returning to this wonder Ultra Foot Race?? I WILL BE BACK AGAIN. Thank you all at Zitoway. Kenwynne Barber.

I have done almost ALL of the Namibia 100km Races. I would give this race five star and more! There is also an excellent and challenging Walkers program.
The staff are very professional and look after all your needs to make sure you get the best out of your race and are always safe. The food and drink is outstanding. The Lodges at Sossusviei were 1st class. Every day there is a highlight---high being the main "Big Daddy" sand dune 45. Wow. It's a race you will NEVER forget and like me, will want to do it Year after Year. To have wildlife along side of you is wonderful. The Scenery is breathtaking. The night sky will blow you away. Colours change, what was beautiful during the day, changes into something perfect.
One day all the staff of the lodge came out to send us on our way. They all sang in that wonderful African style of singing--so very moving. One of the lasting memories is the company of such wonderful like-minded runners/walkers.
As always Zitoway and their team give you Farewell B.B.Q. in the Bush--another WOW! At the finish, everyone gets a T/Shirt and medal. It couldn't get any better. (Unless it went on forever) Thank you Zitoway.

WOW!! what a spectacular run?

I entered 100km Namibia run as preparation for the Marathon Des Sable, I wanted to get heat, sand and back to back training in a few months before MDS so that I would have plenty time to make any adjustments to my running kit, so basically Namibia was a mini trial run that turned out to be one of the most amazing runs I have done to date.

The stunning scenery of Namibia is just breathtaking! The accommodation at Sossusvlei is amazing with great food and fantastic staff.

Each stage we covered different terrain each time the scenery more breathtaking than the last. The run is superbly organised fully supported, Zitoway organisers do an amazing job everyone very helpful and friendly, I made some great friends from this run, that is always a sign that you've had a great time!

I would 100% do this run again.

Emotions to the limit.
By Roberto Ferrari - Italy

The legs that move, the pulse that increases, the breath that is agitated ... those are sensations that we all have when running anywhere but in Namibia you will feel them before you start. Just looking at the landscape makes you want to run around, to share jumps with a group of antelopes, or try to reach the sun that, like a fireball, hides behind a huge dune on the horizon. Emotions.

I have traveled a lot, I have seen many deserts, and I have run many races, but I only remember those who have souls. Those who have spoken to me without sound, in which I have lacked my breath without having to run, or in which goose bumps have come to me without feeling cold.
The 100km of Namib Desert is one of them.

A race with a force so brutal that even if you complete it walking, and I guarantee you will walk, you will keep it in the memory as a treasure. From the days with a crushing sun where you see the thermometer thinking that it does not work well, until the nights where you can feel microscopic under a mantle of millions of stars. Unforgettable memories.

They say the Namib desert is the oldest in the world, thirty million years old. Twelve ago, an Italian, traveler and runner, decided it was the perfect place for a trail race. After overcoming endless problems and endless bureaucracy, 100km of Namib Desert was born, a test for gourmets, for runners who hunted for emotions and not points.

In a world where each race wants to be the most extreme, the longest, the most difficult, the organization, decided to propose a different program, a perfect balance of comfort and adventure. The hotel where the runners are housed is superb but has limited rooms. This, far from being a limitation, has become a signal of identity of this event. It is one of its secrets: it will never be a massive race. If you are one of the chosen ones, you are lucky, since you will have the fortune to enjoy the Italian hospitality in Africa, an unbeatable *****tail.

The 100km of Namib Desert is divided into 4 stages in which an extreme athletic competition in a complicated terrain that changes completely every day, is combined with the stay in the pleasant Sossusvlei lodge, capable of transporting paradise to earth.

The Namib is a natural park surrounded by the highest red sand dunes in the world. Mountains of sand of more than 300 meters of height that intimidate to us with its presence and that serve of shelter to hundreds of species that the runner will find in their step: orix, ostriches, buffalo or springboks, are common and some hyena may even be spotted.

Each stage is different. On the first day, we run through the Red Rocks, a small valley where the walls seem to ignite at dusk; The Cannon of Sesriem waits for us on the second stage; In the third, the course runs alongside a petrified dune and along the Elim dune, among herds of antelopes and as the last stage, the most spectacular awaits: a dawn departure from the famous Dune 45, and of course, the climb to the Crazy Dune, which they say is the highest sand dune in the world, and after the dizzying descent To the Dead Vlei, a flat hard white plain surrounded by red dunes, and with a multitude of black petrified trees that will carry our emotions to the limit.

Crossing the finish line will awaken the runners of a dream while, sitting in the shade of a forest of acacias, they applaud the arrival of fellow runners. The emotions and gestures experienced are many, jumps, cries, shouts, looks to the sky as if raising a prayer. But the most abundant is the wide, huge smile of those who have fulfilled a dream and want to start all over again.

Is not a new race, 100km of Namib Desert will celebrate this year 2017 its twelfth edition.

Done the race in 2013, 2015 and 2016 - more to come. It’s different. Not your usual desert race. It’s unique. You’ll feel the loneliness amidst the vast desert spreading to infinity. Later on, you’ll enjoy the chatty company of other runners at the lodge. Accommodation and food are great. Organisation is excellent.

This great race comes highly recommended. I have done it 3 times already and will surely return at least once more! It’s the only true desert race that does not require any survival skills. Instead, you just go out and run, suffer, enjoy the race and share your impressions with fellow runners later on at the lodge’s shady bar. Highly experienced, dedicated and friendly staff making the most out of the event. Carefully selected trails for beauty, hardship and runners’ safety. Great atmosphere.
