Fjällmaraton is part of a whole week of running events.
Fjällmaraton was first established in 2005.
Fjällmarathon, a 43km annual marathon set in mountainous terrain.
The 5th of August 2017 is set for the thirteenth edition of the race. This year the course leads runners from the start in Vålådalen over three mountain peaks, Ottfjället, Hållfjället and Välliste, to the finish at Trillevallen mountain station.
The course is extremely demanding and offers varied terrain and technical sections. With a distance of 43km and 2100m height gain, there is an immense strain placed on the runners, and finish times are well over the norm for a run of a similar distance.
Annual variations of the ground water along the course can impact on finishing times too. The new course for the 2016 event had the winner times of women respectively men at 4:01:10 and 3:31:29.
Entries have grown every year, from 60 entrants in the first year, to over 1000 finishers in 2016.
The Fjällmarathon is a running experience that caters to all types of runners, from those who just want to finish the breath-taking course, through to elite athletes in search of an uncompromising challenge.
There are a separate registration for an additional 100 international entries. To register, send a mail to info@fjallmaraton.se
