The Endurancelife Classic Quarter is a relentless Ultra Marathon along the south Cornish coast in the UK from Lizard Point to Lands End.

First hosted in 2007 each year the event grows in global reputation.

The task is brutally simple: to run non-stop from the southernmost point of England (Lizard Point), to the western most tip (Lands End), along the legendary South West Coast Path. This translates to running 90 degrees of the compass, hence the name, Classic Quarter.

This Cornwall ultra marathon challenge can be undertaken as a solo, relay team of two, or relay of four. The atmosphere is of keen and friendly rivalry.

Following 44 miles of the mesmerising South West Coast Path there are innumerable steep climbs and descents.

This is the ultimate trail runner's rush, with spectacular exposure and challenging terrain all just a stone's throw away from the potentially pounding Atlantic swells.

There is also the unpredictable weather to contend with along the way and every runner must be well prepared, both mentally and physically.

I ran the race this year. It was superbly organised with 3 checkpoints, water stations and a kit check. The terrain was varied: some on the beach, some through woodland, grassy areas and some scrambling over rocks and boulders. The weather was perfect this year: dry and mild. I imagine it would be more tricky if it was wet because of the steep ups and downs. There's a long flat section on tarmac in the middle which was mentally quite draining, but made up for the slower miles on the rocks. The last five miles are hard with lots of steps both up and down. The coastal views are stunning and support along the way was great, with lots of holidaymakers about and cheering you on. A great race.

In June 2015 in took part in this, the Classic Quarter. 44 miles of what is simply serene coastal line. If you've never had the pleasure of visting Cornwall then your in for a real treat. You will see parts of the west coast you'd never normally see holidaying, making this Ultra Running experience even more special. The terrian is ever changing. One moment between sand and sea the other climbing over boulders. The aid stations have little food to offer. It is clearly stated before you enter this race that you are to supply your own and aid stations are mearly a top up. I took my own food the whole route and on refection I should of asked my friends to meet me half way and refuel that way. Save on the knees abit. I found this particular race unique, and as of yet not found a race as visually stunning. I can't reccomend this enough if your an Ultra Runner,it will blow you away! 5*****stars

i've run this event for the last two years, and am signed up to this years race too! By far, the most spectacular views of the cornish coast, the route is a straightforward coastal path route from Lizard Point to Lands End. Endurancelife organise great events, and this one is definitely a jewel in their crown. A sell out event every year, the route is extremely tough, with rugged ascents, beach crossings, and harsh descents. It draws a brilliant crowd of runners, a really friendly bunch! The cut offs are fairly generous, but be aware the last 11 miles are very hard, a particular drain on the energy reserves... If the weather is good, which it has mainly been for the last two years (although in 2013, we started in a fearsome thunderstorm!) you will most definitely need sunscreen, the route is very exposed and the sea breeze can be very deceiving. Highly recommended.
