With Fjällmaraton Bydalsfjällen we want to take the concept Fjällmaraton to a new level.
Not only a tougher challenge with a longer distance and larger altitude gain. Fjällmaraton Bydalsfjällen poeses an entirely different mountain environment to that offered by the AXA Fjällmaraton.
With such dramatic and spectacular scenery. Bydalsfjällen is a remarkeble event.
The course sees runners head out from Bydalen over Västerfjället via Mårdsundsbodarna, before returning over Västerfjället, then up and over Dromen. The descent from here leads you up again and along an incredible stretch through Dromskåran.
After running along the ridge, you’ve just got a final loop over Falkfångarfjället, then back over the summit of Dromen, before the well-deserved finish in Höglekardalen.
The course is extremely challenging, presenting tough terrain and technical sections. The 50km and 2,900 height metres will test your endurance, and mean that the race times are much longer than over a regular run of this distance.
Similarly, wet ground can affect times from year to year.
The male course record form the inaugural 2014 edition stands at 5.07.19, and the women’s is 5:20:58.
A race for all abilities, Fjällmaraton Bydalsfjällen caters for everyone who’s looking for a challenge this summer. With such spectacular views, the 50k doubles as a great day out as well as your opportunity for UTMB points; the 50k race awarded 3 UTMB points.
