The Grand Raid des Cathares is a long distance medieval adventure of approximately 174 km with a positive elevation of 7700m. It is a trail race to be completed at your own pace in onestage and in semi-autonomy. You can race it solo or in teams of 2 or 3.
If you chose to tackle it in a team, the participants must start and finish together! The goal being to support and motivate each other and to achieve more than you think was possible.
The race is in semi-autonomy. The trails will be marked and the race will include a couple of checkpoints with a constant respect of our environment with the aim to limit our footprint.
It starts from the Porte de Narbonne in the medieval city of Carcassonne on Thursday 13 October 2016 at 5.30pm.
The course is varied and consists of fire trails single tracks, country side roads and goes through cute little French villages… You will enjoy the beauty that the region has to offer with its bare plateaux of Corbieres, its wild forests and the rugged Pyrenees mountains…
The cut off for the race is of 46 hours (please refer to race rules).
