This is the Knoydart Peninsula. This jewel of Scotland’s incredible West Highlands. Only reachable by sea or on foot via a challenging hike over the ‘rough bounds’ – a notorious strip of mountainous terrain you will come to know well during this race. An area of stunning natural beauty and rugged grandeur, this is a location so isolated it allows those who make the journey to experience true remoteness. Join us in a place locked away and protected by nature.

You’re standing on top of one of Knoydart’s many high points, looking out over 85 square miles of sprawling moorland, rivers and rocky foothills bookended to the north and south by the vast sea lochs, Nevis and Hourn (Heaven and Hell).

The island feel of this untamed corner of Scotland means runners can be forgiven for feeling they’ve left the UK far, far behind, as they race through rugged trails teeming with wildlife. In a day you might see Golden and Sea Eagles overhead and Red Deer patrolling the land. On the coast, runners should watch for otters, dolphins and even Minky Whale.

As the sun sets each day and you reach the comfort of our campsite, there’ll be organised talks from prominent ultra-runners and coaches around the campfires.

A 125km race split into 3 stages taking in the stunning coastal mountains of the Knoydart Peninsula.

Enter as a Solo, duo or form your clan of 4 to battle it out in the team clan race.

Runners should expect plenty of ascents as they scale mountains separated by broad glens, rivers and high lochs. Wildlife thrives in this area, and runners may well see Red Deer and even Sea and Golden Eagles soaring above.

As a self-sufficient race, you are responsible for carrying the kit you need to get through each stage, including food, safety equipment and a minimum of 1.5 litres of water. Accommodation each night is provided by way of a managed campsite with designated tents for all.
