[2016] In general, the southern Marmara area is packed with natural beauties and the İznik Ultra path is no exception. The sight of Lake İznik is a relief on the long journey and the path itself reflects a mild Mediterranean climate. Not too hot during this time of the season but still the nature has already awaken and welcomes you in. The marathon fair could be a tad classier and better integrated.

I'd never been to Turkey before the Iznik Ultra, but I can tell you one thing. It's beautiful. And if you're a trail runner, you'll be in seventh heaven. The race itself is first class - excellent support, views to die for (literally), a lake to jump into should you get hot (which is likely) and bragging rights for saying you've completed Turkey's second ever ultra. You'll also be blown away by the kindness of strangers - from the moment you arrive to when you leave, you'll never be alone. One for the bucket list!
