THERE WILL BE NO EVENT IN 2018.

Scimitar Lightning Run is a twelve hour off road endurance running event open for solo runners & teams.

Held in the idyllic grounds of Catton Park (On a completely different course to the one we use for the Conti Thunder Run 24 hour).

The 10k course for the Lightning Run 12 Hour is as challenging as it is enjoyable, taking in the breathtaking scenery as the route weaves its way up and down the hills and through the technical trails in the woodlands.

Ample course marking, a mid-point drinks station and plenty of supportive marshals will ensure that competitors can concentrate on enjoying the challenge and tackling the terrain.

Now well established on the endurance running calendar the Scimitar Lightning Run is a great focus to keep you training throughout the winter months and is used by many as a warm-up for the Conti Thunder Run 24hr giving runners a good taster of what’s to come later in the year, getting used to the format, style of course, team tactics & running in the changing light conditions.

My first ever ultra, I can't rave about this event more than I've already done. From the free camping to the excellent facilities. I entered as a solo and my goal was to keep running for the whole 12 hours which I achieved. My only criticism was 2 aid stations instead of one would of helped.

Ran as part of a 5 member team last year and absolutely loved this event! Great campsite, lots of space for everyone wanting to stay over the night before. Even the overnight rain and for the first half of race day didn't spoil my enjoyment, it just added to the atmosphere!! Going back this year to run it as a solo runner and really excited.

Awesome race set in the lovely grounds of Catton park, great atmosphere and organised by the same organisers as the tr24. I highly recommend this race and have enjoyed running in it for the last 3 years each time solo and I have seen it getting bigger and better each year .

After running TR24 (also at Catton Park) several times, in various sized groups (3, 5 and 8) I thought it was time for a solo event and 12 hour duration of Lightning Run seemed like a reasonable duration. Same organisers as TR24 and so a very similar set-up all round. The camping area had plenty of toilets, hot showers and a heated food tent. The course was mainly around the edges of farm fields, but with some twisty wooded areas thrown in for good measure and was undulating enough to keep things interesting. A friendly atmosphere in the campsite and out on the course, with lots of support from other runners. I spotted lots of TR24 t-shirts out on the course, so it obviously appeals to the same groups of people. In the campsite on the Saturday night things were pretty quiet from 10pm which was good for those wanting a decent nights sleep before the 6am start. Overall a great event and one I'll be seriously considering for next year. (Ran this in 2015)

My first event as part of a competition winning team. The weather ruined it a little as made parts unrunnable. Great team event and everyone has a fab time.Would come and do it again but would not camp as it's not my thing and unless you like eating junk food or paying over the odds on buns/cakes then bring your own. Personally the food tent is weakest part of event. I loved the racing side of it. Organisation is fab.

This was my second year of running the Conti Lightning 12 Hour Run as part of a team and again had a fantastic weekend despite the weather which made underfoot conditions very difficult in places. The course is pretty challenging through woods, round fields and with plenty ups and downs. The atmosphere and friendliness of this event really stands out for me along with the organisation and I will definitely be back again next year!
