The Maverick inov-8 Snowdonia X-series and Ultra event is quickly becoming a notorious event within the UK’s Trail running calendar. To keep up with the reputation of our Snowdonia event being the toughest in the area we’ve added a brand new ultra-distance route that will see the most bold of trail runners cover over 60km of Snowdonia’s finest Trails and summit from both the Llanberis and Miners track.

In the destination venue of Snowdonia National Park in North Wales, there is never any guarantee of the weather, but what is always promised is the most extraordinary trail running up and around the surrounding area of the formidable 1085m peak of Snowdon itself.

All four routes of or Snowdon X-series event start in the village of Llanberis and immediately take you up the well-known Llanberis Path towards the Summit. All routes are challenging and technical, but with grit and determination they are achievable and will leave you with the most fulfilling sense of accomplishment.

For many of our runners our Snowdon X-series event is quite literally the peak of their season. In past years as runners come back through the Village of Llanberis to cross the Maverick finish line we see tears of complete fatigue and overwhelming happiness due to these runners pushing themselves to their own personal limits to complete this extraordinary event.

Our Snowdonia X-series event is the one event on our calendar that there is absolutely no other substitute for, so be brave and courageous and take on this mighty challenge.

Ran in 2017 - The most amazing experience and challenging race.

In July 2017 I took on the Maverick Snowdon full marathon (28miles) and it was the furthest I had ever run, with the most ascent. I was so nervous before hand, but the atmosphere within the event setup was so friendly and welcoming and everyone was encouraging.
The course was so well marked that even when the going got tough because of the distance or the climbs, I knew I was on the right track and this was such a relief.
The outposts were well stocked with sweet and savory as well as water and precision hydration, which was great for refilling my own hydration pack. The marshals on the outposts were so friendly and encouraging, and there were marshals at all road crossings and course splits which again put me at ease and meant I could just focus on my running.

The route is hard, there is no doubt about it. Coming back over the snowdon ranger path and eventually dropping back down in to Llanberis I had nothing left to give. It was hard and demanded all my determination and strength. However I have since completed the maverick Peak district event and the Maverick Snowdon event in 2018 and have only got a better runner and stronger athlete since.

These events are second to none! I am yet to find another event where the organisers look after their runners so well and make them feel so individually valued. I am yet to find any other event where there is such camaraderie between all the runner (whether the leaders or the back markers) it is like one big family.

If you are thinking of taking on Snowdon, do it with Maverick, you won't be disappointed and it will keep you coming back for more.

2018 - The second year of running this amazing event in Snowdonia. The route immediately takes you up to the summit on Llanberis path before descending down Watkins. from here it's round the forest, over the copper mine, before finding your way back to the base of Snowdon on the Ranger path. All before finishing in the village of Llanberis.
This route, event, atmosphere is the best Snowdon ultra race out there. Lots of events companies are trying to take on the mountain, but noone does it like Maverick. There is an intimate feel about the event, that gives you the confidence to complete what can only be described as the biggest running challenge I have ever faced. There is fun, encouragement and all the resources necessary to give you the run of your life.
Outposts are well stocked and frequent, the route is clearly marked and their are helpful friendly marshals at every course split and road crossing.

If you are ever thinking of running up Snowdon, make sure you do it with Maverick!!

I have run the Maverick Race X-Series Snowdon for the last two years, 2017 and 2018. Without doubt it has become my favourite trail running event in the UK and it is exceptional. It has an epic summit climb, highly technical descents, forest and lakeside trails, a copper mine, insanely beautiful views, a wild remote bog that will eat your soul and a fantastic ‘last of the Mohicans’ style run over the rocks next to a river. Maverick Race themselves organise things to perfection, have excellent aid stations, create an inclusive atmosphere and look after people really well. They are fantastic people who are a joy to race with. I cannot recommend this event highly enough and I can't wait to tackle the Ultra route this year. It's going to be stunning!
