The Midnight Mountain Marathon is no ordinary marathon.

Set in the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, the course takes you through forests, over streams, past waterfalls and up mountains.

The difference between this and any other mountain marathon, is that you start at 5.30PM and have to finish before the midnight cut off.

The Midnight Mountain Marathon uses part of the 'Fan Dance' which is the infamous run taken on by potential members of British Special Forces as part of their selection process.

This includes an ascent of Pen y Fan (2,907ft / 886m) which is the highest peak in South Wales.

There is now a half marathon available.

2017. A really great event, my first venture at this distance on trails. Very friendly and well organised, I would do it again. The route breaks you in gently with forestry tracks, before you head off into the hills. The cut offs are pretty achievable and I only needed my head torch for the last couple of miles.

My first ever marathon and this was sadistic! Very well organised, cant say much of the views as we were battered with very poor weather on the tops but I would certainly do it again.

What a great race. Stunning surroundings and a challenging route, one of the most 'enjoyable' I have run for a while. Quite low key, which I like, and plenty of catering (tea, cake, coffee, cake, soup, cake) in the HQ, which I also like. Definitely back next year with plans to camp over.

Our first half marathon ran in June 2016 - superb support and briefing. We were fearful at the sight of superhumans running it, but they were really encouraging. A fantastic experience. You literally suck extra energy out of the sheer beauty of your surroundings. As we ran to the finish line, hand in hand, villagers clapped - an emotional achievement for a middle-aged couple who trained around a flat-out schedule of kids, dogs and very full-time work! Hugely recommend this purely for the adventure. Next year - we're doing the full marathon. Idiots.

A superbly organised event with a small intimate and friendly atmosphere. A tough but achievable challenge which males the event suitable for experienced off-road runners and beginners alike. A fabulous location to run in and the addition of the half marathon option meant the marathoners had more finish line support this year. One of the best events in the calendar!

Really well organised race over a great course. Not easy BY FAR and pretty difficult underfoot at times but well worth it :-) #lovedhateditwanttodoitagain

A fantastically challenging event in the stunning Brecon Beacons. The 2014 event was organised very well and I thoroughly enjoyed it :-)
