This was my first ultra and although i found the heat and humidity a real challenge, i loved the run. The aid stations were my saving grace as they were well stalked with ice, food and drink. The volunteers were awesome and very encouraging; so needed that! I found the scenary along the route to be breathtaking at times and i enjoyed running the footpath/trail.
Some things i think would be awesome are: start the 50km race earlier (6am) to beat the heat and the visitor traffic at the falls, and some guten free vegan food at the end of the race. Other than that, the run was awesome and well worth the challenge!

I ran this race in 2015. It's almost completely along the paved Niagara River Recreational Trail. So the terrain isn't difficult, but there are some significant hills.

The course was incredible. Some of the views of the river as we ran past were breathtaking, and running past Niagara Falls was indescribable. The falls were in view for probably 2.5 miles of the race, and we got so close that the mist acted as a nice midrace cooling zone.

The aid stations were a huge help. They had a wide variety of food so you could pick whatever you needed depending on how your stomach felt, and the volunteers were extremely helpful.

Postrace they had free beer for the runners and a nice variety of food.

I ran the 50K on June 20, 2015 for the first time. It's a great event. Well organized on a lovely route. It can be a fast course, as unlike a lot of other 50K's that are on trails, this one is mostly on paved roads/paths along the Niagara. The starts are staggered to avoid too much congestion on the route. It gets a little crowded towards the falls with the tourists, but all part of the fun. Lots of great volunteers especially at the aid stations in typical ultra fashion, ready to assist as needed. The start/finish area is great, with lots of space and good (and even beer). A nice medal and great hoodie are great swag as well.
