2018 Coming over to Chamonix to race in one of the UTMB races, has been my main A race of the year. Everything went really well, and I had a great race and experience. It ticked all the boxes from an Alpine adventure packed into one day. From ‘chocolate box’ Swiss villages, Alpine pastures grazed by cows with bells, stunning mountain scenery much more. The climbs were barely walkable let alone runable at times. The scale of everything is epic. The weather was kind to me, either below, in or above cloud, with quite a bit of sunshine. A very well organised event. Really pleased with how I ran, strong all day, no walking the last part this time. The route is very well way marked on very good trails, with well stocked aid stations. The whole atmosphere in Chamonix was fantastic, and all very positive. If like me, you aren't yet up to the full UTMB, this event gives a great insight to it.
