2018 Forest of Dean. Great event helped by fantastic weather. I ran trail marathon- only 40 starters. Water stations only on route. Interesting route through the forest. Great atmosphere at the event, plus lots to do - orienteering on both days with some good mixed teams. Great value- entry fee, finishers hot meal and up to 3 nights camping for around £45.

I took part to the OMM festival in 2018, we did the OMMlite, short course. The principle is the same as any score course in mountain marathons: try to collect as many check points as possible, in a set time. So the brain needs to work too and the navigation has to be spot on! The main difference in here: we come back to base camp for the night, so no need to carry tent, sleeping bags and so on. This actually makes the atmosphere very different from the "real" OMM: more laid back, family friendly and festival-like (the clue is in the name ;-)).
The location this year was the forest of Dean, so not as hilly and challenging as typical OMM locations. We could cover more ground than usual, which made it a quite fast course.
This event is fantastic and I would highly recommend it!
