The Round the Island Isle of Wight Multistage is a 70mile two-day race along the Isle of Wight coastline and is a UTMB qualifying race. Day one is run on the south side of the island after which runners will relax at the set-up campsite.

The coastal path is fully marked but runners will receive an additional map to navigate the route. Medical crews will be in attendance.

Accommodation and meals are included. Food and drinks is provided at all checkpoints.

Breathtaking and exhilarating, the Isle of Wight Coastal Path is a 70-mile circular route that takes in spectacular views over the English Channel to the mainland.

It's a National Trail with excellent markings in the form of signposts or post discs. You'll also be given a route card, designed to help you navigate any trickier sections.

A runners thoughts after the event:

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the team at XNRG for such a great weekend for the Round the Island Race. It was so much fun! All the marshals, medics and other crew were incredibly helpful, encouraging and enthusiastic. It was an amazing route. Clearly a lot of thought, planning and hard work had gone into the event. Hope to see you for another extreme XNRG event soon! Thanks again.

Only managed day 1 as I heard about this event at the last minute. Fantastic atmosphere and really supportive environment for elite and beginners alike. well organised by Extreme Energy.
Overnight accommodation is provided in West Cowes on Friday night. The event starts off the chain ferry in East Cowes as the gates open and continues clockwise around the island (reverse of the boat race). This means a fantastic view of the boat race as soon as you reach the coast and beautiful trails, cliffs and paths as well.
The support teams deliver exactly what you need, when you need it at 6 - 10 mile intervals and medical cover/ attention if required.

I was very impressed and gutted not to be able to be there for the second day. This race isn't to be taken lightly (39 miles on Day 1 followed by 32 miles on Day 2) however is very well supported the whole way. I had problems at mile 5 and managed to just slog it out to the finish due to the morale and support offered by everyone there.
definitely coming back for the whole weekend, and for more events from Extreme Energy.

A great event following the coastal path around the Isle of Wight organised by the XNRG team. Self navigation, OS maps are very useful, as the coastal signs are not always obvious. Route card is given at the start of the event. In 2012 accommodation was camping or little huts.

With breakfast & evening meal all included in the price this is suitable for new ultra runners and there is plenty of support en route.

Takes place the same weekend as the boat race. A fantastic atmosphere over both days especially the overnight stop. Open to walkers and runners with different 'waves'. A really fantastic achivement to run around an Island.

lovely race from the excellent Extreme Energy. Race starts as soon as the Ferry opens it's doors. The course has everything- fantastic views, road, cliffs, and beautiful trails. Being the same weekend as Cowes, the Isle of Wight has a great atmosphere. The race organisation is superb, open to runners & walkers this race is for anyone who wants to give ultras a go.
