The south slopes are choked with dense chaparral, dramatic views of sandstone, Coldwater and Matilija formations, and the ridge-line traverses offer unmatched views of Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpentaria and Ventura and soaring vistas of the Dick Smith Wilderness to the north, the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Island Marine Sanctuary to the South and Magu Peak, the western most point of the Santa Monica Mtn. Range looming on the Eastern horizon
