I did this race in 2015, in prep for the Mont Blanc marathon, and this year in prep for the 50k Ultraks in Zermatt next month. It's such an excellent, varied and tough route, so is just what I need to get me ready! Not only does the stunning scenery provide a real boost in motivation, and reminds me exactly why I love this sport, the (very) technical terrain is really great for keeping the brain sharp! All organisers & marshals are so friendly and supportive. I know many people expect this, but it's not always a given, and I really appreciate it. I had such an amazing run, and all on the day that Unesco announces the Lake District is now a World Heritage site!

What an amazing race. It was the toughest I have ever done but I'm glad I did. Beautiful scenery, great camaraderie and cheerful and helpful marshals. I found the descent really hard work and will need to work on this for next time. I will enter next year for sure to see if I can do better.
