THEAGENIOS ULTRA RUNNING THASSOS RACE
The organizing team MTBR THASSOS and the Environmental Movement of Thassos are organizing the Theagenios Ultra Running 100K, a race 100 km around Thassos Island.
The purpose of the race is the physical and spiritual probation of participants to honor the ancient athlete and twice Olympic winner Theagenes of Thasos.
The young Thassian was crowned Olympic boxing winner in 480 BC (75th Olympics) and in 476 BC (76th Olympics) in the category of Pankration. He also won three times at the Pythian Games, nine in Nemea and ten in Isthmia, sometimes in boxing and others in pankration. Apart from strength sports, Theagenes won at least once the 3.600m Dolιchos running race in honor of Achilles. His total was reportedly around 1400 wins.
This event will be a criterion for participation in the Spartathlon. You can find all the race details in our Facebook page and our website.
