The 35M Tiree Ultra Marathon headquarters are located at An Talla, the Community Hall at Crossapol and the start line is a short walk away at Sorobaidh Beach. It is open to solo runners and relay teams.

The course is a 35-mile run around the island, with flat rugged terrain that includes plenty of beach running. The route is marked, easy to navigate from checkpoint to checkpoint and fully marshalled.

Only water will be provided at the checkpoints so runners must be food self-sufficient. Dropbags are allowed and will be transported to the half-way checkpoint.

There is a mandatory kit that must be carried the entire race. The cut-off is 10 hours.

I ran this event in 2015. I'd run a couple of 24 hour team events and one solo ultra before and considered myself very much a beginner at ultra distance still. The idea of running around an entire island was appealing and the travel was well worth while.
The organisation was excellent and the whole event very friendly. With plenty of signs, marshals and maps, it was easy to follow the route, interesting without being excessively challenging, and amazing scenery. It was easy to break the route down into more manageable chunks, mentally, and the aid stations were well stocked and timely! I stayed in a cottage and hired a bike, which was good for shaking out tired legs after the event. The pst race catering was fantastic and good value but I must confess I didn't make it to the ceilidh that evening.
Really recommend the event for all abilities (it's an excellent starter ultra).

Amazing event, great for beginners and elites. Well organised, signposted, and supported. The route is a circumnavigation of the island which makes it a special event. The route follows some remote sections of the coastline and some sections of road. The aid stations are fun and supported. The ceildh at the night time is a must to dance of tired legs. Well worth the travel to get to Tiree. Watch my video here for it https://vimeo.com/glenntait/tireeultra
