I did this in 2017 as my first ultra (minus any swimming or other sports to relieve the legs). I chose carefully to play to my strengths; potential for proper winter weather, lots of hills, off road, the need to self-navigate and relatively low-key. It delivered on all fronts! Very friendly and efficient organisation and marshalling, an interesting course despite repeating the return section (it all looks different the other way) and a generous dump of snow once we were up on the slopes of Helvellyn! Tough event that's well organised by experienced runners.
The route is tough and purposely timed so that daylight hours are at a premium.
It should be on every experienced trail/fell runners tick list!

Top event for folks with enough experience to look after themselves on a long, committing and challenging route. Superb organisation and super friendly atmosphere. Arrive early and stay over after !

A route that is technical in terrain and navigation and an utter joy to run. We'll organised with crew that provide a friendly and helpful atmosphere to the whole event. Be ready for a challenge and to be amazed by the simplicity of the race and support you'll receive. A must race for Ultra runners :)
