Blood Rock 100 and 50 mile trail runs
Blood Rock 100 and Blood Rock 50 are the final events of the Southeastern Trail Series. They both start on Saturday 9th December from cabins on Tranquility Lake in Oak Mountain State Park, Alabama. The 100 mile race is two laps of the 50 mile course and contains over 40,000 feet of ascent. It has a 35 time limit with 18 hours allowed for the 50 miler.

Double Oak Mountain is part of the Appalachians and its trails are rugged, steep and technical with some treacherous descents. Around 90% of the race is run on narrow single tracks. The inaugural 50 mile race took place last year, and 2017 is the first running of the 100 miler, so course records will be set. It promises to be an exciting race. Good luck if you are taking part!

RE:Blood Rock 100 and 50 mile trail runs
Twelve men and two women completed the inaugural Blood Rock 100 this weekend. A new race and a tough one, but hopefully one that will see more runners out to take the course records and challenge themselves next year. Jordan Garris was first lady in 29:57:04 - an impressive 2 hours 29 minutes ahead of Jaime Holt. These were the male podium finishers:

1. Wesley Ormond - 24:45:00
2. Gerardo Ramirez - 26:27:26
3. Christopher Eveland - 26:40:23

These were the Blood Rock 50 podium finishers:

1. Andrew Russell - 10:46:54
2. Josh Jenkins - 10:54:22
3. Eric Kienle - 11:24:27

1. Victoria Tipmore - 13:11:37
2. Lindy Brady - 13:50:36
3. Stacey Malecky - 15:50:31
