Gold Coast 50
Gold Coast 50 describes itself as 'Australia's most spectacular 50km road race' (there are also, 30km, 15km, 5km and relay options). It is run on the roads and footpaths adjacent to the Gola Coast coastline of Queensland. The 50km event is an out and back from Kurrawa to Coolangatta. It starts at 5am local time on Sunday (Saturday morning, UK time) - this is Australia's summer and the temperatures are likely to soar as the day goes on.

The current course records are held by Vlad Shatrov (3:09:34 in 2017) and Elkie Belcher (3:35:47 in 2016). The event has two patrons - Steve Moneghetti and Gary Parsons. Amongst a huge number of other running achievements, Steve ran the Berlin Marathon 1990 in 2:08:16, making him Australia's fastest marathoner at the time. He also won the 1994 Commonwealth Games marathon. Gary's achievements include winning the World 1000 mile track championships in 1994 and 1996, breaking a string of World Records. He also holds the record for the furthest/fastest continuous run - 19,030km over 274 days - this broke four World Records.

Good luck to everyone running.

2. Anderson Moquiuti - 3:18:52
3. Derrick Leahy - 3:20:24

2. Karen Pienaar - 3:51:18
3. Corrina Black - 4:02:21
