Are Compression Socks Any Good?
Hello everyone, first time here..

I'm new to the ultra game but have done a few this year and I'm doing my first 100-miler this summer.

I've seen quite a few people wearing knee-length compression socks, especially on the longer runs and was wondering if there really is a noticeable difference when wearing them?

thanks all

Hi there,

I don't use them myself, but I'll put a tweet out later to see if anyone can help. Good luck with the 100-miler!

I've used them during mountain ultras, I've had less calf cramp and seem to have a quicker recovery.. but I rarely use them during flat runs.

I've been wearing them for a while and it depends on where I run. Road running, I wear socks with more cushion, and for trail running, I wear those with less cushion. I've been wearing Crazy Compression and they seem to last longer than regular running socks.

Hi. I use calf guards on long or hard sessions. Both during session and for a few hours after. Don't look great, I know, but have helped a lot with Achilles strain & plantar fascitis. Just an opinion. No other real evidence

Thanks for the responses - might give them a try and see for myself. I've been lucky with very little cramp so far but willing to try anything to keep it that way!
