TAILWIND TRIAL
been hearing good things about tailwind nutrition,so ive decided to order some. anybody tried it .if so how much do you take in relation to distances being run ?

Hi Cardie,

Tailwind has been a game-changer for me. I don't have a set amount I use but tend to mix 1.5-2 scoops per 500ml bottle and drink to thirst. During ultras I try to roughly refill a bottle at each checkpoint as this reminds me to keep drinking and getting the energy in. Tailwind suggests about 1 stickpack (2 scoops) per hour I think but varies slightly depending on distance/heat etc. This sounds about right to me but I would suggest experimenting and seeing what works for you. It will also depend on whether you are using it as your sole source of energy or combining it with other things. If you are running a long distance and not taking in anything else then you will need more than if you are also eating some solid food.

I hope you get on with it - it has really helped me.

Love it myself. I struggled for a long time to find the right balance of nutrition and fluid. This does the job excellently. Loosely speaking I take nothing else for distances up to 15 miles. Longer than that I need cereal bar or the like. Great friendly service too

I've used Tailwind since 2015 after having stomach issues using gels on a marathon, since then I only use tailwind for races, marathon to 50k with no stomach issues and over 50k i use tailwind while taking in some other food and still no stomach issues.

Mike Julian who runs the UK Branch of Tailwind, has put together a great team and their customer service is exceptional and he is also an Ultra Runner and only uses his product for his races.

They do a 6 stick trail pack which will give you an idea of which one works, my personnel fav is the Caffeinated Raspberry Buzz
