Chester Ultra
The second running of the Chester 50 Ultra Marathon takes place on Saturday. Our two runner reviewers were full of praise for the organisation and route of the inaugural event in 2017 and both gave it 5 stars. The race is organised by the team behind Ultra Great Britain and takes in a number of Cheshire trails including the North Cheshire Way, Marches Way and Sandstone Trail as well as roads through the historic town itself. Entrants will run alongside the River Dee, up Alvanley Cliff and through Delamere Forest on this varied 52 mile route. The top 100 finishers will receive a gold medal, those finishing in places 101-200 will receive a silver medal and finishers 201+ a bronze medal.

Ultra Great Britain has been a successful addition to the UK race market, and this year's competitors look set to have a great day. Good luck to those taking part and let us know how you get on.

RE:Chester Ultra
It looked like this year's event was far muddier but no less successful than last year's race. The full results are not yet available, but the winner was Charlie Sharpe in 7:12 - an incredible time from someone who wore road shoes, slipped in the mud and hurt his ribs! Sally Ford was the first lady to finish and beat her own winning time from last year by 21 minutes. She set a new CR of 8:06. Lee Ireland was 2nd male in 7:40, and Jon Park 3rd in 7:53.

Well done to everyone who ran yesterday - it would be great if you could leave a review of the race to help runners considering entering in the future: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/Chester-Ultra#reviewSection
