The Fellsman
The 56th Fellsman takes place this Saturday and Sunday. It is a traditional fell race - participants navigate their way between checkpoints, but most of the course has no official 'route'. The event is mainly on private land, and does not follow defined footpaths, so navigational skills are essential, and the terrain can be boggy and remote. However, our 8 runner reviewers all gave the event 5 stars, suggesting that it is well worth the effort.

The race starts in Ingleton and entrants will run approximately 61 miles with over 11,000 feet of ascent through the Yorkshire Dales on rugged moorland. In the evening, runners are grouped into teams of four which must then stay together. It looks a challenging but rewarding event - good luck to all those taking part!

RE:The Fellsman
It was a cold and bright 56th Fellsman at the weekend - boggy underfoot, but dry overhead. Well done to the 341 runners who took part - if you were one of them then it would be great if you could leave a review of the event on our listings page. There were 80 DNFs, and 261 finishers. These were the podium results:

1. Neil Talbott - 11:16 - winner of the Fellsman Axe and Tregoning Cup
2. Stuart Walker - 11:44
3. Lawrence Eccles - 11:56

1. Jessica Richardson - 14:01 - winner of the Jim Nelson Trophy
2. Carol Morgan - 14:19
3. Rachel Slattery - 16:35
