Montane Cheviot Goat Winter Ultra 2018
On Saturday, around 100 runners will take part in the second running of the Montane Cheviot Goat Winter Ultra. We have one review of the inaugural event, awarding it 5 stars. If you are taking part this year, it would be great to get some more reviews here: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/Montane-Cheviot-Goat-Winter-Ultra.aspx#reviewSection

The race is a 55-mile loop of the largest hills on the England-Scotland border and contains 9,500ft of ascent. It is a mental and physical challenge as you battle the elements over the peat covered hills in the most sparsely populated area of England and traverse the border ridge with Scotland. The race is named after one of the only animals that can survive the winter on the tops of the Cheviot Hills. Runners will need to be similarly hardy to complete the unmarked route - the cut-off is 24 hours, and they will be running significant sections in darkness.

It promises to be a beautiful and rewarding event for the experienced runner. Some impressive course records were set last year - Andy Berry and Jim Mann tied in first place in 11:33:43, with Carol Morgan setting a female CR of 13:12:25. These will take some beating! Good luck to all the runners.

RE:Montane Cheviot Goat Winter Ultra 2018
Both course records have been smashed and the men's podium filled. Despite a number of withdrawals, the results so far are phenomenal. The tracker is showing a tie for 1st place with Kim Collinson and David Hedges both finishing in an astonishing 9:24:14. Adam Potter was third male in 10:49:04 - that would've been a winning time last year. Jasmin Paris has set a new female CR of 10:23:29, putting her in third place overall. Last year's winner, Carol Morgan, looks set to take second place - she is currently at 52.8 miles. Shelli Gordon is in third at 50.8 miles, but Elaine Bisson is hot on her heels at 50.6 miles.

Carol Morgan finished as second female and knocked 11 minutes of her 2017 time with a time of 13:01:03. Shelli Gordon was third in 13:31:41. Most competitors are still running, and the final runners won't cross the line until early tomorrow morning.
