Chester Ultra 2019
The third edition of Chester Ultra 50 takes place on Saturday. The 52 mile route takes runners along the River Dee into the heart of the historic town and then treats them to a variety of trails including the North Cheshire Way, Marches Way and Sandstone Trail. Entrants will climb Avanley Cliff and run through Delamere Forest.

All four of our runner reviewers awarded this event 5 stars, and the Ultra Great Britain team are gaining recognition for putting on well-organised events. The race forms part of their 50 Mile Grandslam. The course is marked and the top 100 finishers receive a gold medal. Finishers 101-200 receive a silver medal, and finishers 201+ a bronze medal.

Last year's winners will take some beating - Charlie Sharpe finished in an incredible 7:12, and Sally Ford set a new course record of 8:06.

The UGB team offer free organised recces of the whole route in the run up to the race. It sounds like this would be a great first 50-miler as well as being a good choice for anyone who wants to push themselves without having to worry about navigation.

Good luck to all those taking part and let us know how you get on.
