The Great Barrow Challenge
The Great Barrow Challenge Summer 10 in 10 started today with the Wickhambrook route. The Great Barrow Challenge is the only multi-terrain 10 day festival of running in the UK and they also run an Autumn Double, an Xmas Triple and a Spring Quad. From 29th June - 8th July they offer both a marathon and a 32 mile ultra with options for entrants to complete anything from a single race to 10 in 10 days. They offer a supported and waymarked route with the option to enter on the day. These are reasonably priced races that prove popular with new ultra runners, those looking for an extra challenge of completing multiple events and those searching for a weekday race.

Today's ultra was won by Chris Cooper in 4:31:23 with Gareth Allen leading those aiming to complete all 10 days. The leading lady was Sue Osborne-Clamp. Let us know if you are completing any of these races and what you think about the format of the festival. If you fancy entering one of the races on the day then visit www.thegbc.co.uk

I'll be dipping my toe into the Great Barrow waters on the final day and hope to see some of you there.

RE:The Great Barrow Challenge
The Great Barrow Challenge is now at the half way point. After 5 days, there are 7 men and just one lady currently on track to complete all ten ultramarathons. Gareth Allen is in the lead on 25 hours 46 minutes, but only 11 minutes and 10 seconds separates all 8 contenders. The fastest single ultra time so far for this year was on day 3 when Damian Car completed 32 miles in an amazing 3:40:10.

If you have taken part then we would love to read a review of the event from you: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/The-Great-Barrow-Challenge

RE:The Great Barrow Challenge
From what I've heard the events are very runnable but the challenge of completing all 10 is certainly a tough one! I like the fact that allows for lots of options though - from an individual half marathon, marathon or ultra right up to ten ultras. Something for everyone.

RE:The Great Barrow Challenge
I had a great time doing the final ultra of the festival yesterday. The results are now in and five inspiring runners completed all 10 ultras. These are their overall times:

Gareth Allen (1st) 53:12:35
Artur Kujawinski (2nd) 57:21:44
Stephen Baker (3rd) 59:04:50
Sue Osborne-Clamp (1st F) 64:27:03
Nick Nicolson 70:10:05

Well done to everyone who ran. We would love to read your reviews of the event: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/The-Great-Barrow-Challenge#reviewSection
