Race to the Stones
With 26 runner reviews (https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/Race-to-the-Stones#reviewSection), this race is incredibly popular, and our members have rated it highly as an ideal first ultra or first 100k race. There are several options - you can run 50k or you can take on the full 100k route either non-stop or over two days.

The race is run on the Ridgeway, which is officially the UK's oldest path boasting Iron Age forts, Neolithic burial chambers and Roman river crossings. It finishes at Avebury stone circle. This event won Best Endurance Event in the UK in the 2016 Running Awards, perhaps reflecting its popularity with newer ultra runners. The route is fully marked and there is plenty of support at checkpoints.

Good luck to everyone who is running Race to the Stones this year - join the discussion to let us know about your preparation and your expectations. If you have run the race before, do you think it deserves its Best Endurance Event in the UK award? What advice would you give to this year's entrants?

RE:Race to the Stones
I've been seeing some incredible stories of grit and determination from this weekend and we would love to hear how our members got on in this race. The winning times for the non-stop 100k were seriously impressive - Benjamin Poiraton finished in 7:52:53 and Sarah Hill was first lady with 9:23:04. Most runners were out on their feet far longer than that, and that takes huge stamina. We would appreciate your reviews of the race: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/Race-to-the-Stones#reviewSection

Well done everyone!

RE:Race to the Stones
Sarah,

I love your little updates...is there a website that tells you when all the big races open up their applications? I seem to always be hearing about certain races too late 'ahh next year' then it passes by.

RE:Race to the Stones
Hi there and thanks for reading the updates.

I'm not aware of a website that specifically has this function. However, you can use our 'find events' section to search for races by location/distance/month etc and then click through to the race website. The websites for the races should tell you when applications open. The more popular races such as Centurion events and Lakeland 50/100 often fill quite quickly but others can be entered much nearer the time. I also find Facebook and twitter can be helpful if you can't find the info on the race website - someone usually knows the answer or you can tweet the race organisers. You can also use these forums to ask about specific races - we are happy to tweet the links to forum posts if we don't know the answers ourselves.

Hope that helps a bit.
