The Ultra Tour of Snowdonia
The Snowdonia 50 or Eryri 50 in Welsh is actually 58 miles and incorporates over 8000 feet of elevation. It is a circular route starting and finishing in Betws y Coed with Snowdon at its centre. Snowdonia and Mount Snowdon have captured the hearts of many a runner, but this is not an easy route. The trails are technical and the weather unpredictable. Entrants are promised rewarding views for their efforts and our one reviewer has given the race 5 stars and praised its organisation and friendly feel. If you have experience of this race then it would be great to get some more reviews to help those thinking about entering and those preparing for this year's race which begins on Saturday at 6:30am.

Runners have 24 hours to complete the race, but last year's winner (Alasdair Moffett) finished in an impressive 12:28. The winning male and female receive a shepherd's crook crafted from local ram's horn. Successful completion gains runners 2 UTMB points. Let us know if you are running the race this year or have any tips from experience of the race or of running in Snowdonia. Good luck!

RE:The Ultra Tour of Snowdonia
I'll be running this year after putting it off for two years. I live locally so know all parts of the route and how the weather can mis-behave here. A lot of the sections will be very wet and boggy, especially from Croesor to Nantmor, Rhyd Ddu to Maesgwm and from Dinorwic over the moor to Bethesda at CP6; so I'd highly recommend a change of shoes and socks and if you have enough shoes, maybe two changes if you have a supporter to meet you at other CPs! Keep those feet dry for as long as possible!!

The whole route is through stunning scenery but like Sarah says, it's definitely not a walk in the park; this is Snowdonia terrain and it will eat you up if you don't respect it ;)

That said, if you're running, have a great time. Perhaps bring a wetsuit...

RE:The Ultra Tour of Snowdonia
Well done to everyone who ran last weekend. The official results have now been released. These are the podium finishers:

MEN

1. Owain Hunt Williams 11:15:28
2. Connaire Cann 11:26:16
3. Lenny Hughes 11:55:24

WOMEN

1. Leri Roberts 13:49:33
2. Alison Mawson 14:03:37
3. Joni Parry 14:51:58

All three of the top men were significantly faster than last year's winner but the stats show this was no easy race - only 67 of the 100 entrants made the start line and only 55 finished. If you took part, then we would be very grateful for your review: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/The-Ultra-Tour-of-Snowdonia#reviewSection
