Druid's Challenge
Extreme Energy's Druid's Challenge starts tomorrow (10th Nov) and finishes on Sunday. The three day multi-stage event covers 84 miles along the historic Ridgeway, which dates back to 3000 BC. It starts at Ivinghoe Beacon and finishes in Swindon with overnight stops in Watlington and Wiltshire. Participants will be treated to talks from Shane Benzies, Rory Coleman and Susie Chan on the Friday and Saturday evenings and provided with accommodation and food. Our seven runner reviewers have praised the organisation of this event. I have run one of Extreme Energy's other multi-day events (Pilgrims Challenge) and can confirm that runners are very well looked after.

This event is popular with those training for MdS. The route itself is a popular one for races - Ridgeway Challenge 86 covers the whole Ridgeway in a one day event and Race to the Stones offers single and multiday options for the 100k from Princes Riseborough to Avebury. I would be interested to know people's experiences of long distance versus multistage races - do you think it is easier to run 80+ in one go or to complete 3 back to back long runs to cover the same distance?

Good luck to everyone taking part this weekend. Enjoy the scenery of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the talks in the evenings. Let us know how you get on or if you have any tips for multistage races.

RE:Druid's Challenge
Well done to everyone who completed this epic 3 day challenge. I hope you are all recovering well. These are the provisional results of the podium finishers and their total times:

MEN
1. Robert Barnes 11:02:58
2. Mark Ford 11.19.13
3. Kristian Morgan 11:22:44

WOMEN
1. Edwina Sutton 13:06:38
2. Rebecca Ash 13:16:47
3. Melissa Montague 13:23:17

The results suggest a closely fought race with some great performances. There were only 10 DNFs across the 3 days, suggesting this is challenging but achievable - we would love to hear your views if you can spare a few minutes to leave a race review: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/The-Druids-Challenge-Ridgeway-Multistage-Ultra#reviewSection
