Transylvanian Bear Race
Tomorrow's Transylvanian Bear Race is a 50 mile/80km route (there is also a marathon option) through Romania's ancient Saxon villages, forests and farmland. Runners will pass fortified churches, a ruined castle and remote villages before ascending the Sighisoara citadel - a UNESCO World Heritage site and birthplace of Vlad Dracul.

The terrain is tough in places, and temperatures can be extremely high in June. The local wildlife includes bears and wolves and the countryside was described by our runner reviewer as 'unspoilt'. It looks a truly stunning race, and something very different from the routes that many of us have experienced. Good luck if you are taking part.
