Wicklow Way 100 & 50 Mile
The Wicklow Way races are one of the last opportunities in the calendar to acquire UTMB points. The 100 mile event starts at 2pm on Friday in St. Columba's College Grounds, Dublin. This is an out and back version of the 50 mile route - entrants run on the Wicklow Way to Shielstown Forest and back. The 50 mile event starts at Shielstown Forest at 7am on Saturday. Storms are forecast for Ireland this weekend, which could make for some very wet and muddy running.

The Wicklow Way offers a mix of terrain - mud, lots of rocks, flat fast trail, technical trail, fast descents, scenic uphills, river, heather and more besides. The cut-off for the 50 miler is 15 hours. For the 100 miler, it is 36 hours. This will be a long day or two, but entrants will be rewarded with the views across some of Ireland's most spectacular scenery.

There are some great names running the 100 miler this year, including Florent Bouguin, Patrycja Bereznowska and Cate Airoldi. We do not yet have any runner reviews of this event, so if you are taking part (or have in the past), we would love to hear what you think: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/Wicklow-Way-100#reviewSection

Good luck everyone!

RE:Wicklow Way 100 & 50 Mile
The 100 mile runners have been on their feet for just over 6.5 hours. There has already been one surprise withdrawal - Cate Airoldi was tipped for a podium spot but had to drop out at Crone.

In the men's race, Flourent Bouguin is the only runner so far through Glenmalure (6:21:42). Mark Doyle was second into Glendalough (4:41:14), followed by Barry Drennan (5:09:33).

In the women's race, Yvonne Naughton was first to Glendalough (5:14:12), followed by Patrycja Bereznowska (5:36:49). Sarah Evershed has just gone through Glendalough as third female (6:26:32).

RE:Wicklow Way 100 & 50 Mile
After nearly 29 hours, 13 of the 100 mile runners have finished, 11 have dropped out and 22 remain on the course. There is one podium spot left to fill. These were the top 3 men:

1. Mark Doyle - 19:29:37
2. Flourent Bouguin - 21:20:16
3. John Mollohan - 22:18:51

Yvonne Naughton was the first female in 22:39:33, followed by Patrycja Bereznowska in 23:19:22. Sarah Evershed looks set to take the final podium spot. She is the only female to have passed Crone (after 24:48:08) so far.
