Eiger Ultra Trail
The Eiger Ultra Trail is a 101km race starting in Grindlewald and covering breath-taking trails through the Swiss Alps and up the north face of Mount Eiger. This mountain was first summited in 1858 but the north face remained unconquered until 1938. Competitors are partially self-supported and have a time limit of 26 hours to complete the course which involves 6700 metres of elevation change.

The views look stunning and those hoping to enjoy them this year include local mountain runners Andrea Huser and Urs Jenzer as well as Brit Thomas Evan (3rd in MdS 2017), Scotty Hawker and Western States 100 WR holder Timothy Olson. We currently have no runner reviews of this race, so if you have taken part in the past, we would love your feedback: https://www.runultra.co.uk/Events/Eiger-Ultra-Trail#reviewSection

RE:Eiger Ultra Trail
Today's results show that there's nothing like living in the Alps for preparation for racing in them. Swiss runners had a fantastic day with the top two men and three of the top four women hailing from home turf. That being said, Brit Thomas Evans certainly isn't from the mountains but he put in an impressive performance and finished fourth, showing that he can handle both the desert and the mountains. New Zealand's Scotty Hawker was fifth and Western States 100 WR holder Timothy Olson was fifteenth male.

These are the podium finishers:

MEN

Stephan Hugenschmidt (Switzerland) - 11:01
Urs Jenzer (Switzerland) - 11:15
Jordi Gamito-Baus (Argentina) - 11:31

WOMEN

Andrea Huser (Switzerland) - 13:46
Martina Trimmel (Austria) - 14:44
Helene Ogi (Switzerland) - 14:49
