Tromso SkyRace
This weekend sees the third edition of the Tromso SkyRace organised by Kilian Jornet and Emelie Forsberg. It consists of the Blamann Vertical 2.7km run on Friday 4th August and the Tromsdalstinden (19km) and Hamperokken (53km) races on Saturday 5th August.

Hamperokken SkyRace is part of the Ultra Skyrunning world series. Skyrunning is defined as mountain running above 2000m on extremely technical terrain, and Hamperokken certainly fits the bill. It consists of 3k road, 9k trail, 25k technical trail, 6k off trail and 5k scrambling on a technical ridge. It summits and connects the peaks Tromsdalstinden (1238m) and Hamperokken (1404m) and includes forest, fjords, snow and ridge running/climbing. The cut-off is 13 hours.

Tromso is definitely for experienced mountain runners and not for the faint-hearted, but all of our reviewers have awarded it 5 stars. Many of the entrants are Norwegian, but mountain runners from across the globe are also attracted to the race. The Tromso scenery looks stunning and well worth the effort if you have what it takes to consider this event.

RE:Tromso SkyRace
Today's winning time was significantly off course record, showing what a tough day it's been. Congratulations to Jonathan Albon for winning Hamperokken for the second time in 7:01:01 - it's great to see a British runner doing so well in a mountain race. There was little to separate the frontrunners and this was a truly International event, as shown by the podiums:

1. Jonathan Albon (Great Britain) 7:01:01
2. Bhim Gurung (Nepal) 7:08:58
3. Michel Lanne (France) 7:27:26

1. Maite Mayora (Spain) 8:21:21
2. Ragna Debats (Netherlands) 8:25:43
3. Nuria Picas (Spain) 8:39:17
