Ultra Tour Monte Rosa
This is an event with four different options. There is a 170km route and a 116km route and both can be run as either a single ultra or a stage event - 4 stages for the Ultra 170 and 3 stages for the Ultra 116. The 4 stage event started at 6am Swiss time (5am UK time) today and the single stage 170 starts tomorrow at 4am (3am UK time) and entrants include Nicky Spinks. The 3 stage event starts at 8am (7am UK time) tomorrow and the single stage 116 at 6am on Friday (5am UK time). All the races finish on Saturday 9th September.

Ultra Tour Monte Rosa is run on the trails of the Tour de Monte Rosa - the second highest peak in the Alps. Runners will be surrounded by the mountains of the Zermatt region on the Swiss-Italian border, including the Matterhorn. The terrain is diverse, including passes, valleys, forests, technical descents and runnable trails. It is a phenomenally beautiful area steeped in history and culture. The Race Director is Lizzy Hawker - 5-time UTMB winner, author of 'Runner' and 100km Women's World Champion. She set up the race because 'these were the trails I wanted to share with other runners'.

This race looks truly inspirational and we would love to hear from anyone who has run it or knows the area. Is anyone thinking of entering this another year?

RE:Ultra Tour Monte Rosa
Congratulations to the winners of the inaugural Ultra 170 single stage race. Hong Kong's Stone Tsang had a clear lead on the other men and came in in a phenomenal 30 hours 14 minutes. Julia Boettger was an impressive first woman home in 35 hours 5 minutes.
