Mustang Trail Race
This weekend, up to 50 runners will be travelling to Nepal in preparation for an 8-stage adventure in the Mustang region. From the 17th-25th April, they will cover around 165km (over 100 miles) from Lower to Upper Mustang along an ancient trading route between Nepal and Tibet. They will climb 8200 metres and run in an environment where the oxygen levels are 75%-60% of those at sea level.

The Mustang region is in western Nepal, behind the Greater Himalayan Range, and it runs northwards towards Tibet behind the Annapurna Massif. The area is more Tibetan Buddhist in culture, and features dry hill, monasteries, caves and villages. It has only been open to tourists since 1992. Runners are fully supported and sleep in 'tea-houses' along the route. It looks an incredible journey.

RE:Mustang Trail Race
The race finished today, and the results have been released. It's fabulous to see that two of the top 3 spots were claimed by women. Chhechee Sherpa and Mira Rai have been running consistently well recently, with Chhechee having won Everest Trail Race in November and Mira Rai being named National Geographic Adventurer of the Year 2017 and winning Ben Nevis Ultra.

These were the top 5 finishers overall:

1. Chhechee Sherpa - 22:54:25
2. Mahesh Thapa - 23:53:20
3. Mira Rai - 24:05:22
4. Alejandro Ouziel - 24:20:06
5. Kristian Soltesz - 25:16:45
