The legend that is Marco Olmo has proved, once again, that age IS just a number by coming first in the Ultra Bolivia Race 2016. The Ultra Bolivia Race is one of a stable of races organized by Canal Aventure. It is a 170 km self-supported race which takes place over 6 stages across the Bolivian Altiplano in South America.

The route is marked and there is a road book and regular checkpoints with a medical team and a technical support team. The time limit for each stage is 10 hours and at night there is bivouac for tired racers.
Marco completed in a time of 16:44:10, well ahead of ahead of Frenchman Christophe Martin (19:08:45) and the Canadian Paul Chan (20:18:35). First place for the women went to Mexican Isis Breiter in 21:47:36.

He also set a new course record, breaking Tommy Chen’s 18:25:03.

Marco Olmo is a two-times winner of the toughest mountain ultra on the planet, UTMB, and has also run the Marathon des Sables 21 times – placing 16th in 2015, 30th last year and planning to run again in 2017.

His motivation? “In my everyday life I’m a loser….I run for revenge, I run for vengeance,” says Marco Olmo.
