2018 Trail World Championships venue announced

The International Trail Running Association (ITRA) has selected the Penyagolosa Trails race venue to host the 2018 Trail World Championships. The announcement was made during the UTMB in Chamonix this past August. Held in October in Geres (Portugal) this year, next year the championships will be celebrated in Badia Prataglia (Italy) before heading over to Spain in 2018.

Penyagolosa Trails takes place in the province of Castellón on the Mediterranean coast with two events of 63 and 115km respectively that depart at sea level and cross the finish line at 1280m of altitude in the sanctuary of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa.

Transgrancanaria adds a new race

2017 will see a new race distance added to the Transgrancanaria racing event, which takes place on the island of Gran Canaria (Spain) next February. The Trans 360 is an individual endurance event consisting of 265km and 16,500m of positive elevation.

The race will be self-sufficient and the 360 participants will be selected by the organisers on the basis of their ultra trail running and orienteering experience. The race is expected to start a few days before the main events kick off.
