Running through the night

A brutal Midsummer eve

Last updated: 20-Aug-18

By Becky Russell

This year's midsummers night saw the second edition of the Brutal Enduro. Runners and Canicross athletes competed as teams, pairs and individuals to cover a 10km cross country course for 12 hours overnight and complete as many laps as possible.

The event village had a real family feel and with all the facilities any overnight runner could require: lots of tea and coffee, massages, camping area, chill out area and medics. AE Photos were out on the course taking action shots of all the runners.

A big thanks you to Alton Sports and Silva, the event sponsors.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, especially the winners:

First mixed team - Ross Madconald, Jonathan Albon, Ross Phelan and Lucy Martlew (an incredible 15 laps!)

First male team - Anthony Astbury, Graham Mason, Rob Churchill and M McKeaveney

First female team - Karen Davies, Sarah Miles-Griffiths, Nicola Esler and Margaret Plumb

First male pair - Christian Froggatt and Bernie Sexton

First female pair - Jeanette Cross and Leila Rose

First male solo - Rory Spicer, with a total of 10 laps

First female solo - Rosemary Close, with 8 laps

See you in 2015!

Next year the Brutal Enduro will take place on the night of 20/21st June. Registration will be available at www.brutalrun.co.uk nearer to the time, or why not sign up for a 10k to keep you occupied in the meantime!
