Ronhill Women’s Trail Quantum Jacket review

Last updated: 16-Aug-18

This jacket is ultra lightweight and packable. You can easily stuff it into a pocket and take it with you as an emergency warmth layer/windstopper and rain repeller.

I tried it out in light rain where it held out very well and then I used a hosepipe to see how it would make out in heavy weather.

PROS: What’s good about the Ronhill Women’s Trail Quantum Jacket

It is very light and very packable. Definitely an excellent piece of kit to have with you for if the weather turns.

It performed very well in light rain and any wetness there was, came from me sweating rather than from the jacket letting in water. Of course, when I did some running around under the hose pipe, there was eventual leakage, but it held up under the conditions.

Good reflective detailing on the back.

It fits well and thought has been given as to how it looks with good contrast between the jacket itself and the zip to give it style.

Fleecy collar and zip guard meant there was no scratching at the neck.

I liked the little detail of the internal loop for your keys in the chest zip pocket.

CONS: What is not so good about the Ronhill Women’s Trail Quantum Jacket

There isn’t much to dislike on this jacket. One point to make is that it is not a loose fit, so err on the side of caution when choosing your size, especially if you are considering an extra layer underneath it.

I would prefer to see a slightly longer length in the body, as I find that more comfortable to run in.

I am not a fan of elastic at the bottom of a jacket, so this feature did not appeal to me. I find it constricting.

I did sweat in the jacket so would have liked to see a little bit of venting under the arms.

An excellent piece of kit to stow away and take with you if you are not sure what the weather is going to do on your run. It gives a lot of bang for its buck in terms of water repellent effectiveness to weight ratio. I was impressed by the way it performed. It looks good, has reflectors down the back and the pocket is useful.

Total 8/10
