I recently decided to try the Skechers Gotrail Ultra 3 shoe as I was looking for a lightweight, highly-cushioned trainer for use on the trails for my long runs and recovery runs. PROS: What’s good about the Skechers Gotrail Ultra 3

Great lightweight superior cushioning and ultra comfy.

Great fitting and true to size.

Wide toe box.

Good lacing system allowing individual fitting.

Work well on paths and light trails.

Very breathable.

Nice looking shoe.

CONS: What is not so good about the Skechers Gotrail Ultra 3

Not easily sourced.

Don’t offer maximal stability.

The lugs would not be suitable for muddy conditions.

I’d prefer a greater heel toe drop and more arch support.

I am sceptical about the durability of the shoe but time will tell.

The laces require double knotting to ensure they don't come undone mid-run.

Conclusion

Overall I’ve tried other cushioned shoes and these are by far the comfiest but I suspect that there will be a compromise on durability. As I am light on my feet and I don’t have rocky terrain where I live I don’t think this will pose a problem to me but it may to others. The lugs are not aggressive and for muddy conditions I'd steer towards using the Scott Kinabalu Supertrac.
