PROS: What’s good about the Ronhill Women’s Trail Fuel Short

There are a lot of features to these shorts and they were useful ones. I liked the big pocket at the back and the elasticated loops for gels.

The outers shorts were in a lovely, thin, soft material so felt good to the touch and were very lightweight.

The inner shorts had more substance and felt good and strong against the skin.

The under shorts were a good length and came down past mid thigh.

I liked the waistband with the drawstring cord which meant I could fit the shorts to my shape and there was no movement.

The reflectives worked well.

CONS: What’s not so good about the Ronhill Women’s Trail Fuel Short

This was the first time I had tried a twin short combo and I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I found was that the outer shorts immediately rolled up to my crotch level. I still had good coverage at the back which I liked, but not so good at the front. The undershorts stayed firmly in place at mid-thigh which was a good thing.

You’d have to choose your top carefully with these shorts in order to keep access to all the features on the back. If the top is too long, you lose the advantage of the gel loops and pocket.

CONCLUSION

The shorts were a good fit and I really liked the fabric and length of the inner short. I found the outer shorts a bit extraneous as they rolled up quickly to the top of my thigh. Having said that, they did still cover my bottom – definitely a good thing. I liked all the features on the shorts which added plenty of options of where to stash gels, keys and my emergency tenner.
